- 2 Tbs Vegetable oil
- 1 lb Lean ground beef
- 1 cup Chopped onion
- 1 cup Chopped green bell pepper
- 1 cup Uncooked rice
- 2 tsp Chili powder
- 1 1/2 cup Water
- 1 tsp Seasoned salt
- 1/2 tsp Ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp Ground black pepper
- 1 cn (8-oz) tomato sauce
- 1 cn (14.5-oz) whole tomatoes drained and chopped

- In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the beef, onion, and green pepper, cooking until the meat is browned: drain liquid. Stir in remaining ingredients: reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is tender.
- Note: For a lighter touch, substitute ground turkey or veal for the beef.
