Spanish Rice No 6

 
Ingredients:
  • 2 Tbs Vegetable oil
  • 1 lb Lean ground beef
  • 1 cup Chopped onion
  • 1 cup Chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 cup Uncooked rice
  • 2 tsp Chili powder
  • 1 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 tsp Seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp Ground black pepper
  • 1 cn (8-oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 cn (14.5-oz) whole tomatoes drained and chopped
Directions:
  1. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the beef, onion, and green pepper, cooking until the meat is browned: drain liquid. Stir in remaining ingredients: reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is tender.
  2. Note: For a lighter touch, substitute ground turkey or veal for the beef.
